Bay City Rollers
International Tour Poster

This was one of my funkiest assignments. Tam Patton heard of my artistry N London & called me N a panic from Scotland 2 create the portrait poster & international tour book 4 his new Scottish musical group: The Bay City Rollers. They were 2 begin their world tour N Toronto.

Tam called me on a Friday (a holiday weekend) screaming: "Help!" Tam said all their tour books were destroyed (a fire or something) & he needed my help ASAP 2 create new tour books & a water colour painting pronto!!!

Tam said I only had until Monday afternoon 2 "play" & could I create cam-ready art & copy 4 a new fun tour book from scratch - 18 pages or so?

I said: Sure... PLEASE send ANYTHING over from the record company with mucho bios, Nfo & pix ASAP! Tam did.

What a challenge. No Net nor Computer graphix then! Plus typesetting & all art supply shops were closed. I took lots of calm Nhales & lots of Xhales & asked my Artsy Angels 4 help.

Visualizing a colour cover 4 the tour book, I grabbed a tartan plaid short skirt I had, cut it up, glued it 2 an illustration board, then did an acetate photo overly 4 a top & back cover.

Then I buckled on my thinkin' tam & used every trick N my cosmic tool kit 2 create the funnest tour book 4 their sweet teen fans.

All worked veeeery well!  Never slept a wink but I met my timeline!

When the BCRs arrived N Toronto, I was limo-ed over 2 Xperience their 1st appearance at Maple Leaf Gardens. What a surreal hoot!

Then I was flown 2 Ottawa. It was a screaming madhouse of hysterical pre-teens dropping like fainting flies... all clutching my tour book 4 the BCRs. I kinda felt bad about that, as I assisted as a spontaneous volunteer N the quickie hospital zone.

After one show N Ottawa, which happened 2 B my 8/14 birthday, I was with the BCR gang & their entourage N the Premier Suite as we all downed pizza & Scotch & celebration toasts... & guards scrapped little gals off windows who were trying 2 invade the BCR suite.

I would have preferred a faaaar more romantic evening with a great guy, but that was a memorable hoot!

Thru it all, I thot: The BCRs R great guys! But! Not worth fainting 4 on a dirty concert floor as did so many young girls.

As a cosmic surprise, when I arrived backstage at their 1st concert (my 1st face 2 face meeting) I was pinned with their backstage pass badge. WOW!!  It was printed B4 we were involved. Amazing. They used a heart symbol as I used 4 their project & poster!

Doncha just luv it when a God Plan comes 2gether?
